The Sir John Moore Foundation – is there a function it doesn’t have? Local history centre, school, but most importantly a great place to have a wedding. Situated in Appleby Magna which may be in Derbyshire or Leicestershire, depending on who you believe, this Grade I listed building has connections to St.Pauls and The Greenwich observatory, being designed by (or at least, based on a design by) Sir Christopher Wren. Although it is 300 years old, I have tested the roof myself and it will tolerate a wedding photographer standing on it to get a group photo of all your wedding party! A truely unique a quirky venue, the Sir John Moore Foundation is an excellent choice for anyone looking to have a Leicestershire (or Derbyshire – who knows!) wedding.
