Tom and Andy had seen me in action at Anna and Chris’ wedding last year, so after Chris and Anna’s fantastic wedding I was really looking forward to meeting up with their family again – there’s a couple of families that know how to celebrate!

Tom and Andy, not content with one ceremony, had a couple of wedding ceremonies! Firstly the civil ceremony and then a religious blessing from the inclusive church and the excellent Mr. Bob Callaghan, who as well as being inclusive in LGBT issues in the church, also allows photographers to photograph throughout the ceremony!

Miserable weather in the morning decided to make like a banana at just the right time and the wedding party were able to take full advantage of the grounds and views at Ashdown Park before heading up to the spectacular wedding reception room!

Gunchu and Rob – Dunchurch Park Hotel Wedding

Gunchu and Rob were married in the Sikh Temple in Leamington Spa and then had a fun filled wedding reception at Dunchurch Park Hotel. This was the first Sikh wedding that I had shot and, although I’ll have to admit I had very little idea what was going on (later on, a good few members of Gunchu’s family will admit, neither did they!) it was fantastic to photograph from start to finish and really put the emphasis on the family. I was helped out on this wedding by the very talented Mr. Rob Sanderson

After their wedding Gunchu and Rob headed over to Dunchurch Park Hotel for a, frankly, enormous wedding reception at Dunchurch’s marquee. Sikh weddings always feature some amazing dancing and this was no exception!

Wedding at Belvoir Castle – Claire and James

Claire and James contacted me about their wedding at Belvoir Castle just after the new year and, if I recall right, booked over email without meeting or chatting to me beforehand – I’m always a little worried with these sorts of bookings, but needn’t have worried, Claire and James were really easy to get along with from the start. We did meet for a pre-wedding shoot at Wollaton Hall a few weeks beforehand, but the day went completely smoothly without any difficulty!

Belvoir Castle is obviously an amazing setting for a wedding day, not only the grand castle itself but also the amazing views over the Vale of Belvoir. Unfortunately the wind decided to make a fairly heft prescence on the day, meaning that most of the day was spent inside, but with such space inside Belvoir Castle is a great space for a rainy day or winter wedding. My day started with Claire finishing up her preparations in the morning and then headed downstairs to the ceremony in the Duke’s Chapel.

A confession – with such a historic building, I was well expecting the vicar in charge to give me a long list of what I could and couldn’t do but the Family Chaplain (Stuart Foster) was great to work with and really made Claire and James feel at ease throughout the whole ceremony. Then onto the drinks reception in the guards room and a wedding breakfast in the main dining room – via the Elizabeth Saloon for a couple of portraits (you’ll notice them below, they’re the ones with the ceiling!) and then dancing away the evening in the old servant’s kitchen downstairs.

Lorraine and James – Normanby Hall Weddings

James and Lorraine had a fantastic day at Normanby Hall in Lincolnshire – Normanby Hall is a bit of a hidden gem, the drive up convinces you you’re going to end up in an industrial estate, but it’s well worth it, suddenly a countryside retreat appears and all signs of industry are gone – just the hall, deer park and on this day, James and Lorraine’s wedding.

Surrounded by family and friends, James and Lorraine were married in a ceremony at Normanby Hall and then had their reception in the same place (nay, even the same room!). James and Lorraine had obviously put loads of thought into all the details on their wedding day, going for some full on vintage sweet shops, photobooth (or at least a cunningly disguised laptop) and a real type writer to leave messages for the happy couple (watching people trying to use a typewriter was amusing – naturally, I didn’t volunteer to have a go). I posted their very unique table plan over on my Facebook page to a good response!

Most special of all though, Lorraine and James’ daughter gave a reading during the ceremony which brought a good chunk of the audience to tears – delivered like a pro as well!

Kirsty and James – Marquee Wedding at Ashpole Lake

Kirsty and James were married at All Saints Church and had an amazing wedding reception at Ashpole Lake in Leicestershire – a really personal wedding reception, the marquee meant that Kirsty and James could fill it with their own little details – or in their case – big details! Hiring a carousel for your wedding is a pretty cool thing to do and made for some excellent pictures!

My day started off with Kirsty at the couple’s house and then moved on to the church, with the ceremony starting slightly (!) later than planned (a fact for which Kirsty wouldn’t stop apologising for – I don’t think anyone really minded!). Then headed over to Ashpole lake to get some realxed candids of the couple enjoying their day with family and friends – being lifted up in a Cherry Picker for the big group picture and taking plenty of pictures on the carousel!
