Morley Hayes Weddings – Carl and Amy

weddings at Morley Hayes by Jon Rouston

Carl is the brother of Lee, whose wedding I photographed in 2010 – despite meeting Carl at Lee’s wedding we didn’t actually meet when Carl and Amy booked – they booked over email – our only meeting a couple of weeks beforehand to finalise all the details!

Carl and Amy chose Morley Hayes as the setting for their wedding, getting married in church first and then on to the reception. My day started with Amy to capture pictures of her getting ready, then on to the church for some pictures of the build up to the wedding. Amy and Carl had a horse and carriage for their transport which made sure that most of their guests were behind them in arriving at the reception (horses are not the fastest form of transport!). But once we got to the reception, drinks and canapes in the wedding garden at Morley Hayes (as well as a little time for a few family groups) followed by the wedding breakfast, speeches and dancing into the evening.

Because Carl and Amy’s timetable was a little tight, we did their portraits in the evening, so you’ll find them towards the end of the slideshow.

    Congratulations Carl and Amy!

Carriage Hall Weddings – Dave and Nav

weddings at the carriage hall by Jon Rouston

Dave and Nav got in touch a couple of months before their big day at the carriage hall, with Dave living in Ireland and Nav jet-setting it was a while before we could actually meet up! But meet up we did and happily they asked me to photograph their wedding at the Carriage Hall. The Carriage Hall is such a great venue for a wedding, a really nice setting but with loads of space to put your own stamp on.

My day started with Nav at her house with family, indian food and the dog! What more could a photographer ask for! After photographing Nav’s preparations I moved onto the Carriage Hall to capture the rest of the day. A fantastic ceremony with some family touches, family and friends and then speeches and dancing!

    Congratulations Dave and Nav!

Belvoir Castle Weddings – Kiran and Alex

weddings at belvoir by Jon Rouston

My second of three trips to the fabulous Belvoir Castle this year and a great day for Kiran and Alex. Their whole day was at the castle, from preparations in the morning until the dancing in the evening and all assisted by the great team at Belvoir. Kiran and Alex live away from the East Midlands now but returned to Kiran’s home county to get married.

My day started with Kiran getting ready in The Kings Room at Belvoir, surrounded by her family while everyone else gathered together in the ballroom and then onto the ceremony in the guardroom, and then down into the rose gardens for drinks and canapes. While everyone else moved back into the castle for the wedding breakfast, myself Kiran and Alex had a quick tour of the gardens for some pictures and then into the Elizabeth Suite back in Belvoir.

A grand meal and excellent speeches (including an amazing video speech by one of the best men who unfortunately couldn’t make the day – bit of an advantage when you can edit your speech before giving it though!) and then a great night partying and dancing in the old servant’s kitchen downstairs in the castle – we even managed to catch the sunset!

    Congratulations Kiran and Alex!

Melbourne View Hotel Weddings – Caroline and Nicholas

Melbourne View Weddings by Jon Rouston

Caroline and Nicholas were married at the end of the summer, with a beautiful ceremony at Caroline’s local church in Melbourne and reception at The Melbourne View hotel near Castle Donington. My day started with Caroline (although their trip to the hair salon ran on for a bit longer than expected, meaning that Caroline wasn’t there for a very long!) at her parents house, then moved on to Melbourne Parish Church, a beautiful church with great opportunities to photograph from the balcony as well!

After the service we took a few minutes to get some portraits around Melbourne Pool, around which the ducks had been especially kind not to leave any, ahem, deposits, Melbourne pool is a beautiful setting for pictures in the middle of Melbourne and then with guests departed we moved on to Melbourne View Hotel for a fantastic wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Derbyshire countryside, and a wander outside for some atmospheric evening pictures as the sun set.

    Congratulations Caroline and Nicholas!

Caroline and Andy – Ullesthorpe Court Hotel Wedding

weddings at ullesthorpe court hotel by Jon Rouston

Caroline and Andy were married at the end of the summer on a ‘will it won’t it’ sort of day, but despite the rain intervening just before the ceremony (and delivering my favourite ever ‘grumpy grandad with umbrella photos’!) the day went off without a hitch and by the time we hit the reception the sun was shining, weather was sweet, yeah (10 points to anyone that names the song!).

My day started off with Caroline at her house for her preparations and then moved onto the church for the ceremony. The ceremony was filled with personal touches and freedom for me to move around, which is always appreciated! Then onto the Ullesthorpe Court Hotel for a fantastic reception surrounded by friends and family.

    Congratulations Caroline and Andy!
