Ted. Born Sunday morning and doing well, welcomed into the family by way of a cautious kiss from his older brother and lots of hugs from other family members. Mum and baby both doing well.
Kevin and Sue May are getting married later on this year at the fabulous Holme Pierrepoint Hall (still have to look it up before spelling it) in Nottingham, so a little while ago we met up for some photos at Holme Pierrepoint itself. Picture the scene, we are meeting at 1pm, at 9am I receive a phone call (also at the exact time I have to greet the plumber, but that’s another story) asking if I’ve seen a film called ‘in the mood for love’ as Kevin and Sue-May would like some photos in that style. I haven’t seen the film, but thanks to LoveFilm’s streaming service I quickly have a look. My god, it’s beautiful! Later on I’ll see it appear on plenty of lists of ‘beautiful cinematography’ , so once again, my clients teach me something. Of course I watch the whole film later on. Twice.
I’m not completely sure we’ve got close to Christopher Doyle’s amazing work, but Kevin and Sue-May still look fantastic in front of the camera!

Cathy and Adrian are getting married in April at the beautiful Sutton Bonington Hall in Leicestershire (but with registrars from Nottinghamshire – that always happens around here!). So with a view to getting them comfortable in front of the camera we took a walk around Woolaton Hall.

Last year saw me travel from the Lake Distrct to London to photograph weddings, which is, of course, always a pleasure, but I’m not a born traveller. I like my own bed, my own kettle, and the availability of more than one plug socket (Travellodge not known for their generosity in this area). So Donna and Martin’s wedding is going to be a dream, the church they are getting married in is literally five minutes away from my house, on foot (slightly less if I use the shortcut) and the reception next door. No travellodge required!
We met last Sunday for some pre-wedding photos around the church. Amazingly, the last photo of Donna has had nothing ‘done’ to it (no photoshop), that’s actually what her eyes look like!

Another single, this time from a wedding in early 2009. Sometimes you can capture an image which tells a story, even though it doesn’t show all of the elements of that story. This bridesmaid was watching theR bride get ready, the picture doesn’t tell the whole story, in this she looks quiet and contemplative, in reality she was running around like a mad thing all morning. But, she did spend a few seconds looking at the bride as she had her hair finished. I waited for her to return to the spot she had just been at and look up to the bride.
If I told you I waited for the framing of the arm to work perfectly I’d be lying, I took a number of these and picked the one that worked the best. Not that I ’machine gunned’ it (took hundreds of frames) 4 or 5 sufficed. I’m glad I did, the framing on this works well.
