About Me
A Nottingham-living, wife and baby having late twenty something photographer. C'est moi. (Actually, I live just north of Nottingham but you can let that one slip right?)
I live in Hucknall with my wife and a little boy called Oli, born November '09, affectionately nicknamed the sleep terrorist. It's difficult to write about my love of photography without resorting to twee catchphrases, but I love the fact that any picture holds a moment that will never happen again and on your wedding day there are plenty of those moments.
In my spare time I like to take endless pictures of my nieces and nephews, argue with the TV news and read very silly books.
My Style
I photograph weddings in a 'documentary', 'photojournalistic', 'reportage', 'candid' or 'however you'd like to describe it' style. I like to call it storytelling, because I understand what it means (plus I still don't really know how you pronounce 'reportage').
This means that I:
- Try to tell a story with my pictures, both as a whole body of work (i.e. your album should tell the story of your day, from start to finish) and individually (i.e. each picture will tell you a story).
- Photograph your wedding as discreetly as possible. I won't tell you what to do, where to go next or how to look. I aim to photograph your day as it happens.
- I do, however, take some family group photos and portraits of the two of you together.
- My portraits are relaxed and don't involve you contorting yourself into bizarre poses. I do try to make portraits that connect.
- I usually work alone so I can be as unobtrusive as possible.
- I don't over-process images. This means that your pictures are either black and white or colour. That's it: no 'antique toned', 'spot coloured' or 'textured' images. And therefore, no photographs that will soon be 'so last year'.
Overall, I want you to have pictures that spark great memories of your day. I don't want you to think the photographer took so much time taking pictures that 'weren't really us'.
